Chelsea’s promising young attacking midfielder, Isaiah Brown, has announced on his Twitter and Instagram accounts that he is set to join Dutch side Vitesse Arnhem on a season-long loan.
Time for first-team experience
The 18-year-old, who was handed his professional first-team debut in the Blues’ 3-0 defeat against his former club West Brom, has impressed in the youth ranks and has been rewarded with a step up to senior team football.
At the end of the season he was questioned about his future at the club, and said that although he understands the concepts of loan deals and how they can be beneficial to youngsters, if he had a choice he’d rather stay at Chelsea and fight for his place in the first-team, or alternatively continue his progress with manager’s Adi Viveash‘s U21 side.
Promising young talent
The Young Blues won the FA Youth Cup and UEFA Youth League double, with Isaiah playing an important role in helping them to achieve their success over the 2014/15 campaign. Dominic Solanke and Tammy Abraham, who tallied over 80 goals between them last season, were also instrumental as Chelsea asserted their dominance as one of the best young set-up’s in world football at the moment, despite criticism that they hardly ever give English players a chance to flourish.
Another off to the Vitesse conveyer belt
Isaiah will be hoping to cement his place in the Vitesse ranks relatively shortly after the season begins, with plenty of coaching staff certain to be monitoring his progress. After all, he is one of the highly-rated few that have been tipped for great things with Chelsea in the not-too-distant future, but at this current point in time, the squad quality and depth in class is simply too much to expect players like him to be regularly starting in the Premier League and UEFA Champions League competitions.
He had this to say, on his loan move: “Very happy to join Vitesse on loan! Will be good to gain some experience. Thanks to all the fans that have made me feel welcome.”
