With the coronavirus outbreak being felt worldwide, it’s unsurprising that sport this weekend is in limited supply… but what’s on this weekend? Read on, for more…

If you’re itching to watch some sporting action over the coming days, be prepared for an early start! There’s Australian football, rugby, football, netball and horse racing to take place – though the majority of these events will be played in Australia or New Zealand.

Why are sports still going on?

There are 915 confirmed cases of coronavirus across the two countries, with seven deaths – most of which coming in the last week. In comparison, the UK had 64 new cases and 40 deaths yesterday alone.

As of 9am yesterday, 64,621 people have been tested across the country with 3,269 confirmed positive. As of 1pm on Thursday, 144 UK patients who tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) have died.

Today, the horse racing is expected to go ahead at Dundalk, Ireland – behind closed doors this afternoon from 1pm.
