According to a report in the Standard, highly-rated fullback Achraf Hakimi will decide his future in June – with as many as seven top European sides interested in his services.
Hakimi, 21, is set to return to Real Madrid this summer after enjoying a successful two-year spell in Germany with Borussia Dortmund.
It’s unclear whether his return date will change as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, after this 2019-20 season was suspended indefinitely last month.
After setting out emergency measures for out-of-contract players last month, FIFA are to advise all loan deals to be adjusted accordingly, depending on the new timeframe for this season.
Nonetheless, the Morocco international has refused to rule out a permanent departure from the Bernabeu.
Premier League city rivals Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham have all been linked with a move, while Bundesliga champions Bayern are also interested.
Juventus and PSG are also said to be monitoring his situation, while BVB themselves want to buy him permanently.
In February, he hinted staying put in Germany might be best for his progression:
“In my head, I want to play and continue growing. Here in Germany, they are giving me the opportunity.”
He’s made 37 appearances across all competitions this term, with seven goals and ten assists to his name.
Averaging 1.8 tackles, 1 interception and 84.7% pass accuracy in the Bundesliga this season, no teammate has played more league minutes than his 2,045 under Lucien Favre in 19-20.
When asked if he was flattered by the interest, Hakimi told Spanish radio station Cadena SER: “Who does not like it? I am proud of what I’m doing.”
In June I have to make a decision and it will be a great step for my career. I have not yet had contact with Madrid on this matter, but imagine soon we will have some conversation to find out what’s best for me.”
